Localization of the tiltmetric sites
Neuquen mines: Lat: -20.17210 Lon: -70.07319 altitude: 1048 m, under 30 m of rock: a long base tiltmeter of 38 m in direction N121°E and a pendular tiltmeter in direction N211°E
Santa Rosa mines: Lat: - 20.28722 Lon: -70.04423 altitude: 960 m, under 120 m of rock: A long base tiltmeter of 51 m in direction N150°E and a long base tiltmeter of 36 m in direction N80°E. 2 pendular tiltmeters in direction N150°E and N60°E.

Location of the two tiltmeters in Neuquen and Santa Rosa near the town of Iquique

On the two long base tiltmeter stations (Neuquen and Santa Rosa), we have observed the tilt produced by the load and the gravity of the tsunami wave. This tsunami was associated with the Maule event M8.8. We can compare with the Tide Gauge of Iquique.
Zoom on the coseismic signal produced by the offshore event M6.3 near Iquique. The tiltmeter observes perfectly the signal and it is coherent amplitude with Okada modeling. The OKADA modeling also shows displacements on ground with a maximum of 2 mm, almost impossible to observe by GPS measurement. The long base tiltmeter has been able also to observe other coseismic events from lower M5.8 and M5.2 amplitude, impossible to see by GPS.
