Temporary Installations

The permanent networks are complemented by temporary installations in areas of special interest.

• Following the November 2007 Mw 7.7 Tocopilla earthquake, the German Task Force Earthquakes deployed a dense temporary network of short-period and strong-motion sensors to monitor aftershocks.
• From 2006 to 2009 the Free University Berlin operated a dense short-period network to monitor crustal micro-seismicity at the West Fissure Fault.
