In March 2014, GFZ Seismologists installed a new permanent Strong Motion Seismometer site (Tirana) c. 60 km east of Iquique in Tirana,Pozo Almonte. The site is at an 990 m altitude in the longitudinal Valley. The Stong Motion Seismometer started recording on 19 March 2014

• Accelerometer: Kinemetrics Etna accelerographs, runs in triggered mode with sample rate of 200 Hz and sensitivity of 2g.
